· New Member Orientation and Participation Committee
- Ceremony & Badge Presentation to be given by President and recruiting Member, to welcome the new member and make them feel special.
General Standards:
- Secretary to get badge created.
- President to schedule with the new Rotarian the date of the ceremony.
- President to add to program schedule.
- President to get bio from new Rotarian.
- President invites new Rotarian on stage, shares their bio, hands them their badge, shakes their hand.
- President asks the club to please stand and welcome the Rotarian to the club.
- New Member Mentors
- Committee members on the New Member Orientation and Participation Committee need to mentor new members.
- Results we want: To guide and encourage new members on their journey to becoming Rotarians.
- General Standards:
- Introduce yourself to new members in meetings.
- Sit with them at lunch.
- Perform the New Member Orientation when the chair is unavailable.
- Reach out to other committee chairs to see if they have current needs new members could get involved with.
- Get them involved on a committee as soon as possible.
- Present concerns to the committee chair about any new member.
- New Member Orientation:
- A 45 minute meeting to orient new members to Rotary.
- Results we want
- For new members to be excited an equipped to take on their first year as a Rotarian.
- General Standards:
- Chairperson will be primary person delivering the orientation.
- Committee members can fill in as needed.
- Suggested time is one hour before a club meeting. Schedule with ALPS to insure the board room is available.
- Use the PowerPoint to guide the meeting.

- Club is responsible for creating an environment where members want to attend, participate, receive joy and can give back.
- Don’t overwhelm them with Rotary knowledge and facts. That will be gained over time. Keep it simple and get them excited and participating.

- Red Badge Program
- Description: New members get a red badge. They need to complete a list of tasks prior to receiving their regular badge.
- Results we want: To give the new member some actionable steps they can take that get them interacting with people and involved.
- General Standards:
- Attend Orientation
- Board Meeting
- Get assigned to and involved with a committee.
- Meet and greet at the door of an upcoming meeting.
- Involvement with New Member Project.
