Fellowship – Annual District Governor Visit
Description
- Annual club visit by the District 5390 Governor (DG) to share his/her vision for the year, provide district updates and to learn more about our club and ways the district can support us and vice versa.
Goals
- To create a positive working relationship with District 5390 and the District Governor.
- To achieve a shared understanding of objectives and agreements on how to aid one another.
- To provide club members an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the district’s role in Rotary.
General Standards
- Confirm the date of the District Governor's visit to Missoula and inform the speaker chair.
- The club president will appoint a DG Visit Chair to coordinate all DG visit activities.
- The District Governor should be the speaker for the weekly program during his/her visit.
- The four Missoula Rotary clubs should provide a social event, assuming schedules allow, the evening prior to the club meeting to enhance fellowship and fun.
- Each club should provide a DG visit committee member to work together to deliver the results and standards that are needed.
- Both the fellowship gathering and the club visits should feel like a celebration.
- The social event should allow for Rotarians to meet the Governor, socialize and provide input.
- The club’s relationship with the District and the District Governor is critical to gaining District support both for day to day operations and larger club objectives.
- The meeting should be as much about how the District and the Governor can aid our club as how the club can aid the District and Governor in being successful that year.
- Inform, promote, and invite all club members to the DG presentation.
- Communicate with the Governor in advance of our club’s plan.
- Communicate with the Governor in advance of his/her preferences as to lodging and any possible Missoula area tour.
- Communicate with the Assistant Governor about our club’s plans and invite him/her to every activity involving the Governor.
- Communicate with the Governor as to his/her A.V. needs.
- Communicate with the Governor as to any special awards or presentations our club may wish him/her to make (i.e., Paul Harris, etc.) in advance of his/her arrival.
