- Middle School Recognition
- Description: The Middle School Recognition project is a monthly program in the form of a pizza party at which students that have been selected by the school are recognized for exemplifying a selected character trait for that month. This takes place from October through May at the three participating Middle Schools which are Hellgate, Meadow Hill and C. S. Porter. Parents and family of selected students hear why that particular student was chosen, see each of these students receive a certificate, are informed that the student's name has been engraved on a brass plate which is mounted on a wooden plaque and hung in the school until the end of the school year. At the end of the year, the student is given the brass plate to take home. Pizza and other foods are served and a Rotarian is asked to speak about Rotary, and at some schools, is also asked to talk about the particular trait that is being recognized that month.

Results we want: Our club wants this effort to have a positive influence on these students by encouraging all students at these schools to improve themselves and to improve their relationships with other people. We also want the students and their parents to become aware of Rotary, what Rotary does, and perhaps, become involved in Rotary now or in the future.

General Standards: The schools order the engraved brass plates, pizza, drinks and other food. Certificates are ordered by the committee and printed by Alpha Graphics. The certificates need to be signed by our club president and distributed to the schools beforehand so they can add the student names and the principal's signature. A Rotarian will be present at the pizza party to speak about Rotary and/or the particular trait being recognized that month or bring someone else to speak on the topic. This recognition event usually happens at Hellgate on the 2nd Thursday, at Meadow Hill on the 3rd Tuesday, and at C. S. Porter on the 4th Tuesday. All expenses related to this recognition event are paid for by our Rotary club.
